In a team we had to design an interface, system, or service for the 2012 CHI Competition: Empowering The Crowd.

The concept that I came up with for the competition was a service that would enable the public to re-engage with local politics.

The concept consisted of a wesbite and iOS app. We envisaged users sharing their issues on the move via the iOS app (e.g “black ice in Grey Street, Newcastle”) and then other users could ‘like’ an issue; (via iOS app or website for user without access to an iPhone) the more ‘likes’ an issue recieved meant that it had to be brought to the councillors attention to be resolved.

‘Events’ is another VOX feature where users could create an event where people could get together to help improve their community.

The idea is that they would be rewarded for their contributions. e.g 5 hours of community servce could reward them with reduced council tax.
